Dawn Edge Campbell, Where Art and Healing Collide
From vibrant colors to transformative journeys, Dawn Edge Campbell isn't afraid to explore. This Mid-Atlantic artist and Art Therapy advocate believes in the power of creativity to spark both self-expression and healing.
Dawn's life has been a canvas itself. Raised by a lyric soprano and an architect, she was encouraged to experiment with mediums and materials, igniting a lifelong passion. Her illustrations danced with music, her paintings resonated with performance, and her artistic design captivated audiences.
Relocating to Richmond, Virginia in 1997 to attend Virginia Commonwealth University, where she received her BFA in Communication Arts and began her love of children’s book illustrating. Dawn immersed herself in the city's rich artistic scene. This laid the foundation for her own artistic journey, which eventually led her to pursue a Master's degree in Art Therapy Counseling at Pennsylvania Western University.
Driven by a deep desire to empower individuals and groups, Dawn is fueled by the belief in art's healing potential. Having witnessed its transformative power firsthand, she aims to unlock their creative potential and foster self-expression, promoting emotional well-being.
Balancing her artistic pursuits with a successful career, Dawn has worked as a paralegal for over 20 years. This unique combination has allowed her to hone her ability to translate creativity into impactful solutions, helping others both in her professional and artistic endeavors. She has also been fortunate to showcase her artwork through several corporate organizations and firms, further demonstrating the versatility and depth of her talents.
Beyond her individual work, Dawn fosters creativity within her family. She runs a thriving art business alongside her husband, Kendall Campbell, and their daughter, Nia Campbell, who is also a local artist. This collaborative spirit reflects Dawn's passion for community and her belief in the power of art to connect and inspire others.
Dawn's artistic journey is nothing short of impressive. She has breathed life into three children's books and six adult book covers, including "On Womanhood: Connecting and Thriving In Every Season" and "Abound: Principles for Next Level Living." While she enjoys exploring diverse genres, her artistic heart beats for bold colors and dynamic compositions that evoke emotions and tell stories. She finds immense joy in guiding others on their artistic explorations, helping them tap into their inner creativity and discover self-expression.
